Vigorous climber ….
…. is an accurate description of Pandorea jasminoides, a plant of eastern Australia. It’s planted in several places in our village garden, and has already climbed to fourth-floor level as shown in the right-hand photo in today’s collage.
I’ve been watching the Monty Don TV series The Secret History of the British Garden. In one episode he mentions his botanist ancestor George Don. When I researched Pandorea jasminoides for today’s blip I found that George Don was responsible, in 1837, for the first description and naming of this plant.
I have written before, in more detail, about the botanical Dons.
