Dolly's Day

Heading for the match

Early start today as Becky and Mike had to get to Newcastle in time for the start of the Winter Warmer Half marathon at 9am on the Town Moor in Newcastle.  I got up around 6.45am so that I could look after Astrid while they were gone.

We had a lovely time playing with various toys including the Brio train set, some Duplo, jigsaws and we also did some drawing and had fun with stickers.  TV programmes were watched - Peppa Pig, Pip and Posy, Fireman Sam, Paw Patrol etc.  Astrid enjoyed a couple of croissants for her breakfast.

The runners returned wearing lovely medals - see Extra. There were 3 events this morning - a 5km,10km and a half marathon.  Becky was the first over 40 female in the half marathon ( and 4th lady overall.)  Her time was 1hr 43 mins.  Mike was the 5th over 40 male  ( 24th overall)  in a time of 1hr 37 mins.  Well done to both of them - great results.

After getting warmed up and having a snack they packed up their things in the car and headed off home.  It was lovely to see them - a flying visit but as they live nearer now they can come up more often.

Newcastle United had a home game this afternoon against Fulham so I caught a bus around 1.15pm into town.  Took my blip shot as I got near St James Park.  The queues at the turnstiles were huge again  but I was in my seat in time for kick off.

The game started well for Newcastle and they scored after 37 mins.  They also had a few shots which hit the bar.  So  it was looking positive going into the second half.  But the second half didn't go to plan at all and Fulham scored two goals to win the match. Another disappointing result - and that's two home games one after the other that Newcastle have lost.  They play again on Wednesday at home in the Carabao Cup semi final... hopefully they can get a win then.

Quick shop in Tesco before getting a bus home.

After having my  meal I had a 2 hr nap.  Still feeling tired so I may not get round to comments.  Will catch up tomorrow  - I hope.

Weather today was dry but freezing cold.

Steps today - 6,847.
