Oh

Beautiful clear sunny day today, and a clear night, too - so, after an early-ish dinner, Tim drove us over to Exmoor for a bit of stargazing.  We got out of the car and the sky looked amazing.  Got our lounger chairs out, set them up (took all of one minute), looked up... and the sky was covered in thick cloud!  Bugger.

This may or may not have been Venus - which hung around a little longer for us to see it, before being consumed by the same thick layer of cloud.  We stayed there for ten minutes or so (part of that time with flashing orange lights behind us, as a gritter had pulled in for a rest), then had to accept the sky wasn't going to clear, so packed up and headed back home.  We did have to laugh.

Of course, on the way back, the sky cleared again and the stars followed us all the way home.  We stood out on the balcony in all our warm layers when we got back, with a glass of wine, so we still got to look at them.  Just didn't really need the hour and a half return journey to do so.  Lol.

We did get to see some Exmoor ponies on the drive though - thankfully Tim was very alert and avoided driving into the one that suddenly appeared in the road in front of us, chomping on the grass verge.
