Buttermarket: Mathematical Error
More superficial in large
I'd heard that the mathematical tiles had sagged then fallen off the front of Canterbury Pottery on Buttermarket (opposite the main gate into the cathedral precincts). The square has been fenced off around the front of the shop, and there's quite a lot of rubble piled up there...
A lot of the façades in the older parts of the city look like brickwork but are actually 'mathematical tiles' (AKA 'brick tiles'), which are affixed to laths on timber-framed buildings.
Others here (or right from Façade failure)
