Mbweni
Another day and another coastal spot to hang out. Kate and Rob drove us to the hotel next to Mbweni Ruins where we spent a few hours chilling and chatting. I can’t find much about the history of Mbweni but the ruins standing today were once a mission station that provided sanctuary for freed slaves. The ruins make for an atmospheric entrance to the hotel and beach beyond.
A heavy rainstorm began the exact moment we were leaving, which for me made for a warm and soggy journey on the ferry home to Dar es Salaam.
All good things come to an end. I’ve had two and half weeks of pretty successful relaxation and fairly limited work interruptions.
