One small step...
Forty years on, the exploits of Apollo 11 and all the other space missions of the 60s and 70s still fascinate me. One of the best narratives of the period and the men who dominated it is Tom Wolfe's The Right Stuff, an incredible book which was subsequently made into an excellent film.
Like all the men who rode the big rockets, Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins had the Right Stuff in spades and as a young kid, I just lapped it all up. I used to be glued to the tv for every launch and can still remember watching the grainy b&w shots from the moon (made all the more grainy by our crap b&w tv...)
