Just as they like it

Just as yesterday the weather was brilliant, today’s was the opposite. The benefits of living with a maritime climate.

The gloom, wet and cold made finding a blip a challenge but when you’re on a mission opportunities present themselves.

Like the vivid yellow green bark of a goat willow or the dense mosses and lichens on tree branches which were the other contenders. In the end it was this large fungus in the damp crevice of a fallen tree that won the day flanked by some bracket fungi and a small brown cap of some sort. Lovely glistening light on the surface of this fungus. What is it I wonder?

The weather didn’t improve so the afternoon, such of it that was left when we’d eventually returned from town, was spent on various tasks which were successfully completed.

Even after 14 years of retirement Friday evenings still feel special, the end of the “working week” and the beginning of the “weekend”. Old habits die hard and it helps to define the days.

And it’s down to Tenterden signalbox tomorrow, first day of service in the new season. Earlier in the year than usual; time to refresh those skills that have not been used for a couple of months and apply some new signalling practices.

Yesterday’s sunset was much enjoyed, thank you for your comments, hearts and stars
