Catching the Sun

Corydalis maracandica, from Tadjikstan, grows from a corky tuber.   Above ground for only around three months, it's adapted to cope with a long dry rest in it's native habitat.  Not difficult to grow in a cold greenhouse, the plants can set seed occasionally, my plant was raised from seed of cultivated plants by a friend.  On a lovely sunny day, it caught my eye this afternoon as the sun came around behind it.

A late night = a slow start, so I was not on the go very early but by the time the sun broke through the overnight clouds, I was ready to for a late morning walk in the country with C and the Megs.  Beautiful it was!   Following a regular pattern I dropped in to pottery for an hour afterwards and did a bit of fairly simple glazing before lunch.

This afternoon I spent some time in the greenhouse, watering and preparing compost and pots for sowing the seed that has come in from AGS and SRGC seed exchanges.  I'll get the seed sown tomorrow hopefully.   On such a lovely day, I was drawn to take Meg out again, for what was intended to be a quick look at the setting sun.   However we met another dog owner and their dog and ended up walking for a while with them.   It's unusual to meet someone who has had a dog who reacts as Meg does to other dogs.  This lady came over to share her understanding of how it is to have a very reactive dog.   Her current pooch is very laid back and mostly ignored Meg's barking which eventually subsided, allowing us all to walk and talk together for a while.  Hopefully we'll meet them again as now that Meg has got past the initial explosion, she'll be more chilled next time.

I cooked Celeriac and Mushroom soup and had some as a starter before a home cooked fish supper.  Quiet night in in progress.  Ruth and I will watch the new Death in Paradise together in a while, albeit 125 miles apart!
