Glorious Orchids

The weather was a complete contrast to yesterday, dreary and wet. Consequently we didn't get out. Still, it was a good opportunity to work on my botanical art assignment, which is a rose. For the first time it will be in colour, although at the moment I am still only drawing in graphite pencil.

Also I am completing a pet portrait for a friend in pastel. It's quite a challenge as the photo is over 20 years old, blurry  and faded. But I'm enjoying bringing her back to life.

Just to pour the pressure onto myself, I am also doing the art college weekend challenge (the letter  S), in which I am drawing a snowdrop in watercolour.

Still, it's a good excuse to show you a picture from yesterday - a gorgeous orchid - in the park's greenhouse. I normally draw from life but I think I might have to paint this one!
