Ash Dieback

Another tree to fell, with neighbour Nick taking the lead and John assisting.  Main blip shows the tree not quite where it should be, Nick is rectifying the situation. He has felled a few trees over the years, John prefers to assist. 

My afternoon was spent causing chaos with Seville oranges, this is not a modest comment. During the rolling boil stage some fruit and sugary syrup caught and burnt the pan causing the smoke alarm to go off and the pot of marmalade becoming the colour of burnt oranges. I think setting point was just there with a good set however the taste is ‘interesting’.  I doubt John will try it. There is another batch to make, that will be Johns  job. I have a hit and miss record for making the stuff always using Delias recipe, (others use it with perfect results every time) when I get it right the result is just the way I like it.  The secret?  DONT multitask. That was the problem yesterday. 

The pan base could be a bf on its own. Hopefully we can remove the burnt covering and save the pan.
