Dad's Clock
This was my Dad's clock. A quite utilitarian time piece dating from some time in the 1930's (I think) - but it was his clock. It requires a weekly winding, and only he was allowed to carry out this task. Mum daren't go near it (apart from a very careful and gentle dusting).
When Dad died Mum still wouldn't touch it. It became my task on every visit to her - and now it is my clock. A similar situation exists today. I am the only person allowed to wind it - Mrs MD only dusts it.
In return for all this care in the past (close on100 years) the clock keeps perfect time - and I do mean perfect. Once wound it will gently tick away, striking the hour and half hour until the following week-end.
It did, sadly, stop whilst I was in hospital but it's now back to normal ......
