The Vital Spark

Anyone travelling west through Argyll will know these two boats, moored at the tip of Inverarey sea front. One is a restaurant, the other is the last puffer boat to work on the Clyde. It was named 'Eilean Eisdeal' by the Easdale Shipping Company but she was re-registered in 2006 as the 'Vital Spark of Glasgow', after the stories written by the Inveraray writer Neil Munro who wrote about 'Para Handy', skipper of the puffer, the 'Vital Spark'.

We nearly always pass through Inveraray late afternoon or early evening on the way to Oban, often stopping to eat as we did tonight at the George Hotel, now a lively Gastropub with great food. The light can be interesting.

Lovely to be in Oban again. The air here is clean and fresh and the views stunning. No place does R&R like Oban.
