Start Me Up
I volunteered couldn't resist the temptation to have a look at our neighbour's Dual turntable from the early 80s which is not running well and smells hot. My blip is the motor control board and, in the grey box, the motor itself.
These old turntables were very popular in their day and spares are still available so there's not much to loose in taking a look.
The smaller capacitor, hidden behind the big one, looks a little bulged and not entirely happy so I'll replace these components before taking a look at the motor itself.
The black micro switch starts the motor when the tone arm is moved over the disc and stops it once the arm reaches the run-off in the middle.
Start Me Up :-)
