GRIEF AND SHOCK
Today was the funeral service of this amazing man Stuart. He was one of my best friend’s husband. At 58 he had just retired when he was diagnosed with cancer (Sept) he had a successful op and started chemo in November. He was admitted to hospital in December with a virus/bug/reaction. The Rev visited him several times and on Christmas Day he said he looked a bit brighter. Sadly he died of a heart attack 2 days later.
The shock of losing such a kind, genuine and caring man is still unbelievable. He always asked about your family and life before talking about himself. He never moaned or complained. An amazing example to his 3 children.
The church; where he was an active member, was packed with standing room only in the end.
”Remember, no man is a failure who has friends” from his favourite film..It’s a wonderful life
His 2 sons helped carry him into church. The sermon was deep and thoughtful provoking. The eulogy was so well done by his Dad and his 2 sons. One talked about the weirdos he would often befriend on his travels. He said..”that’s you lot” :)).
Another film quote from the service sheet:
”All you can take with you is that which you’ve given away.” He gave away kindness, thoughtfulness, caring and love.
see ya mate..cheers..his farewell phrase.
