Late

Today was full-on, as met my French intern for the first time. We spent 90 minutes discussing practical issues, the work that he'll do, and the background to it. Then I gave a lecture to my course, which would have been more fluent if I were able to use the lecture theatre mouse to cut-and-paste text from my slides to some modelling software as I'd expected.

Fortunately the lecture finished early enough for me to get across the campus and buy a wrap before the start of a University workshop on open-source software. When I arrived I sat at a table where someone saw my HiGHS microfleece and asked if I was who I am. He's a user, and was very interested to chat with me, and И once she arrived. Hopefully the session will be useful, as there's far too little cross-university support for open-source software projects.

After that, I had coffee with И, so she could meet the intern (R), and then we went back to the office with him. Hence, in just over a day, he's met four of the five team members. I ended up working late to prepare a document for him and two students, and I think R felt he ought to stay until I left. Hence we had a 15-minute walk to my bus stop, and I felt that he was already more comfortable with me.

Back home, A had cooked a random but tasty lasagne
