Shock of the Day

We decided to go to Dobbies for our monthly repast of chips, eggs and ham, only to find the windows plastered with these posters and 50% off everywhere. Even the booze in the Waitrose section was down by 30%.

Apparently Dobbies is undergoing financial reconstruction. Its other store in Leicestershire near Hinckley closed before Christmas and has been taken over by Gates Garden Centre which is a very large establishment near Oakham.

Such a shame. We enjoyed our days out here.

The store was almost empty as shoppers scooped up bargains. We bought a pot of snowdrops about to flower and two water bottles named William and Edward.

We stopped at the Outwoods on the way back for Basil to have a run.
