Another day to set off for a longer walk, and I had a good excuse - the spray that we can use on the sofa to take off any marks, has run out. It’s magic - it takes off chocolate, biro marks and worse.
So we set off across the Links, down over the canal, past the cemetery and past the pub. Got the ‘care box’ organised, but they’ll have to send it, they don’t hold any there.
Having ordered that, we came back to the pub. The Athletic Arms, better known as the ‘Diggers’ so called because it’s between two graveyards, and the gravediggers used to frequent the pub.
Archie liked it. The nice barmaid gave him a treat. Twice. I liked it too, because the nice barmaid gave me a beer and a bag of crisps. Well, I paid for them…
On the way home, we came across a cafe we used to frequent when Archie was a wee chap. It’s changed owners, of course, and is great. Very quiet jazz music, excellent scones and coffee - it’s my new fav dog friendly pit stop!
Thus refreshed, we continued on to Bruntsfield. To be more precise, the French deli in Bruntsfield. And there was ONE piece of flan framboise. There is a brand new rule I just invented - if there is ONE slice of flan when I pass, then I MUST go in and buy it. JR enjoyed half of it when I got home.
Pip came to visit for the day, JR took him out, and he spent the rest of his stay up on top of the sofa, looking out of the window, waiting for his Dad to return and rescue him.
8,749 steps. Felt like a lot more!
Several extras today
