Janda Baik, day 1

It was very cloudy this morning so no swim. Packed, had breakfast, did some yoga and then sat and listened to soothing music till I got the call, half an hour late, but no probs.

We headed NE out of the city. The traffic wasn't that bad. All met up at the lunch place, apart from Siyi, who was working.

Then to the house, way up in the hills, in the cloud, in the jungle. It was not warm, about 22 deg, a temperature for which my wardrobe is not designed.

We spent most of the afternoon relaxing, some archery, some games and I finished my Kate Mosse. Saw some monkeys. It started to rain again and it was very airish. I eventually had to go out my new pj's on ( only long trousers I have here) and use my sarong as a shawl.

After a very quite late afternoon, listening to the rain we had hotpot dinner, once Siyi arrived. Not my favourite but it was good. Then the ang pow was distributed.

The rain had gone off by the time we finished so we had a display with some if the fireworks to celebrate New Year's Eve. All went off safely and the girls thought it was great fun, even Olivia once she overcame her reluctance to hold a sparkler.

Tomorrow more celebrations and a birthday.
