Stormy Weather.

Don't know why there's no sun up in the sky. You might wonder why that title - doesn't go with the blip!!

But we went over to Monksilver, a village just up the road from Stogumber. In fact a couple of years ago, we used to walk up the lanes, about 3 miles, to this charming village. The pub back then was really old fashioned. Just two log fires, no electric lighting and lots of candles. Perfectly charming but unfortunately the South African gentleman who was running it, suddenly disappeared and the Public House was closed for over a long year.

We were all excited when we discovered someone had bought it and once again it would be serving delicious food. Sadly, the refurbishment was too much for folk round here and again it folded. So you can image our excitement when we were told once again that someone else wanted to make it good. So tonight we went over for our first meal to see how it would be run.
The food was excellent, and as we had Phoebe with us, we sat outside in the new garden. Halfway through our meal, we noticed the sky had grown very black and felt the first couple of rain drops. We stuck it out under a huge umbrella until the Heavens opened.

It was good to see the pub absolutely heaving with people and hopefully it will continue to attain a high level of achievement with the population.

The village of Monksilver is steeped in history. At the church, Sir Francis Drake married Elizabeth Sydenham, the woman who had given up on him and had tried to marry another in Stogumber Church. See earlier blip - cannon ball - divine intervention etc.!!

But still why Stormy Weather. After we had sat with friends from Crowcombe, we drove back and the heavens just lit up with an amazing storm. But could I take a blip of the storm - no. The lightning was travelling across horizontally, never seen that before, but I couldn't catch it.

We will visit again. Have a good night's sleep with peaceful dreams and enjoy the weekend wherever you are. Thank you for your continued support.
