Different Perspectives

It looked like these two turtle doves on a gate had fallen out, a shame they couldn't see things from each other's perspective!  It was nice sunny weather this morning, so I drove over to Pensthorpe for a walk and to take some photos, it was lovely albeit cold and windy. I've also added another mono of some avocets to Extras. I couldn't visit the flamingos as some work was going on in their enclosure involving heavy machinery. We seem to have missed the worst of the weather again fortunately, although did get some rain this afternoon.

I edited my photos whilst following the service marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. I read on Statista that the estimated number of victims of the Holocaust and Nazi crimes against humanity from 1933 to 1945 was a staggering 17m (representing 20-25% of total deaths during WWII). Of those 17m: 6m were Jews; 5.7m were Soviet Citizens; 2.95m were Soviet Prisoners of War; 1.8m were Non-Jewish Poles; and over 1m were Roma, Serb civilians, disabled people, repeat criminals, Jehova's Witnesses. We must never forget these crimes against humanity and must ensure it never happens again.
