Hamburg, Day 2 - Speicherstadt
Day 2 of our German trip started with a nice breakfast and bying a public transport day ticket.
That ticket first took us to, what turned out to be, a closed tunnel under the river Elbe. What a pity, we had some nice pictures in our minds that could have been taken there. But, maintenance this weekend, so we weren't allowed in.
Instead, we went by bus to a colorful metrostation. A beautifully designed metro station, that was very quiet and relaxed. Hardly any people there. I've never experienced such a quiet metro station ever before. No hectic stressed out running people here. Quite the opposite of my experiences in Rome a few weeks ago.
We captured away there for quite a while.
After a short break in the hotel we walked to the Speicherstadt - the old storage quarter of Hamburg - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We spent quite some time there. Time flies when you're having fun.
Once the light was gone, and both sunset and the blue hour were done, we realized we were actually all rather hungry. We looked for the nearest pizzeria, but ended up at a tapas restaurant. Unfortunately the prices of each tapas was not very 'tapas-style' so we ordered just a few small bites. Meanwhile we enjoyed a live singer and a jazz-pianist. The food we had turned out to be quite good.
A firm walk back to the hotel brought me back to my bed. I soon was knocked out again after this beautiful day.
