Moth or Butterfly?

As a consequence of the warm weather making us keep the windows open into the late evening numerous wee beasties are flying into the house. This evening this one took refuge on the wall above my desk. Not sure if its a moth or a butterfly, but it is very pretty in a brown wood effect sort of way.

(In other news the police have taken up residence at the house over the road)
