Another day, another Church. This is pretty much SOOC! Today was a blip-rich day as Tig.bmp would say, and it has taken me ages again to narrow it down to one. Really, I should have done a collage of this amazing Church that we stopped off to see on the way back to the Lodge. The Church of St Peter and St Paul also known as the "Old Church" in Albury, set in Albury Park which itself is a very interesting place.
Previously mentioned here. We went to the Good Friday service at this Church in March. Today it was lovely and warm and we had the place all to ourselves. To say it is quaint is an understatement. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book - 1086. I'm sure parts of it are older than that even. There is a huge wooden door that looks like it's a 1000 years old, but it is probably only been there several hundred years.
The sharp-eyed among you will notice that the beams on the roof don't look terribly old. That's because the roof was re-done in 1997 (I think). You can clearly see the different brickwork revealing repair through the ages. The Church is open to visitors through the summer and is still used for special services. The Good Friday one we went to in March was the first for this year; there is a Carol Service there in December which we *MAY* get to!
A much cooler day today... spent some time in Homebase and Charity shops looking for some specific things for the Lodge. Came back with 6 solar lights that I had just enough time to charge before the sun went down and now they are glowing in the lounge! :))
