Walking
It was back to grey and miserable as days go but I thought it looked OK for a walk. I had a prescription to collect from Boots on Ravenhead Retail Park so I thought I could combine the two. Terry offered to run me for the script but I'd have driven myself if I had not wanted a walk. I said it would be nice if he picked me up after though as I didn't want to walk all the way back as well and the bus situation is dire on Sundays.
I was shocked when I set off as it felt far colder than the temperature gauge said. It was pretty windy and the wind felt bitter. It looked like it would rain but it was far too windy for a brolly, even my strong one.
I chose a meandering route for two reasons; one to hopefully get a little shelter from the wind (it didn't work) and two, to avoid the traffic fumes from the main road (this did work).
I don't know what happened in the photo - whether it was general cutting back or if a tree had fallen and needed to be cut up.
Extra is an area opposite the traveller's site where for the last few years they have been chopping down trees to cut up for logs.
It did rain when I was nearly at my destination but my winter coat has a fleece-lined hood and the coat is waterproof - well, it's at least water-resistant but I think in torrential rain it might not be fully waterproof. It's very warm and that was needed today.
I was surprised how busy it was on the retail park. After Boots I had a quick look in the nearby bargain shop but the prices didn't seem much of a bargains most of the items were cheaper at Tesco!
It was raining harder and felt even colder when I came out but I rang Terry and walked to the "pick-up point" not far from the retail park. The heated seats in his car are great on days like this.
We made chicken and vegetable soup for tea.
