A Change of Plans
We arrived in Hong Kong early this morning, but we were informed that the Chinese Junk tour we'd booked had been cancelled ... so the only other tour available took us away from Hong Kong into the New Territories in a tiny school bus built for what felt like 4th Graders!
A bit of a mess tour-wise ... the first place we visited was closed, much to our guide's surprise ... and the rest of the afternoon proceeded pretty much the same way. We did visit several temples (too many, perhaps), and it was in one of them that I took this shot. I like it because it shows just how much incense smoke was wafting around ... so much that Mr. W had to flee back to the fresh air!
Other than temples, the other stop was to an incredibly crowded, crammed, jammed, heaving, throbbing, claustrophobic, panic-inducing wet market. I was in agonies! I can't handle crowds, and this was pure torture. Once our guide plunged in at one end, the only way out was to somehow survive until you reached the other end! Not an experience I ever want to repeat!
Despite all this, we are so glad and so fortunate to be here, and to see so many sights that are unfamiliar to our Boston/Maine eyes.
