Over Yonder

Bhool Bhulaiyaa

Peter let me have a look at this.  It is exactly as he describes.  The first hour is splendidly spooky and absolutely beautiful to look at.  Sort of likeThe Devil's Backbone.  But imagine if The Devil's Backbone had suddenly been interrupted by a rapping Indian going on about "getting naughty with his little shorty" (whatever that means).  It's the most surreal break with no introduction or hint that it's coming.

Anyway, five minutes later and back to the film.  Akshay is a very funny influence on the spooky events, but because he's an expert he knows EVERYTHING.  This is a flaw I've noticed in Japanese movies too - as soon as a doctor, or a psychiatrist or a priest shows up, you can expect them to explain the whole plot to you.  Despite this, Bhool is a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it.  That song was just bizarre though.  6/10
