Burns supper

Not long home from a lovely evening with my fellow rotarians celebrating the birth of our national poet - Rabbie Burns.

Fortunately my reply to the toast to the lasses was well received and finished the evening off nicely. The other speeches and our musical entertainment went very well and the catering from the golf club (where we meet) was superb. I’m still full from my haggis, neeps and tatties.

Earlier in the day Phin and I enjoyed a walk at Newbattle which didn’t have as much storm damage as I expected with only a few fallen branches and one tree down over the path.

I spent a couple of hours refining my reply this afternoon before getting ready to head out. I struggled to decide on my outfit but finally settled on a tartan pinafore that I’d bought from Vinted. It was quite a bit shorter than knee length but looked ok with knee high boots and a longer cardigan.
