Sir James McGrigor
We'd a walk along the Dee to the Duthie Park this morning. The storms have passed but it was cold and breezy.
The granite McGrigor monument recognises the work of Sir James McGrigor. He served with Wellington as Surgeon General during the Penisula war and thereafter founded the Royal Army Medical Service. He introuduced field hospitals and promoted cleanliness and hygeine in the battlefield hospitals. This monument originally stood in the quad at Marschial College and relocated to the Duthie Park in 1890
