back blip

Mono Monday results

I referenced a tumble in the above blip.  Last night (Wed), I was carrying a mostly empty salad container from one room to the other when I bumped into the corner of the counter. The salad dish and I went flying. I banged the right side of my body (knee, hip) and strained the muscles in my upper back.  I needed to call for help to get off of the floor but wasn't close to my phone; however, my bluetooth hearing aids are connected to it.  I didn't know if it would work, but I told Siri from across the room to call 911and she did.  I was able to talk to the call center through those aids, too.  The firemen came, they helped me up, got me some ice and water and found my Tylenol.  Very nice guys.

I got a ride today to Madera Canyon and snapped this Acorn woodpecker.  We only stayed long enough to see a few birds, and have a coffee and pastry before heading home.  It was freezing here in the valley and it seemed twice as cold up there.

A Mexican restaurant I pulled up to looked great. Only one problem - it wasn't open.
So I jotted down the name for another day. Just then, a man came out of the restaurant and took a peek at what I'd written.
"That's not the name of the restaurant," he said, pointing to the sign over the door. "That's Spanish for 'Closed on Mondays.'"
