litl hikes

With an amber warning for wind I didn’t want to go out. A lazy sort of day with lots of looking out windows watching the trees swaying. I was surprised how much noise there was when I went out with bird food.

The wind got stronger in the afternoon. About 2.30 I looked out and noticed a gap in the fence. I went to retrieve the upright that had parted from the three horizontal bars. A few screws (and a handyman) should have it back in place easily. While I was out I noticed the sun on the corner where I have these two pots with bamboo in. Makes a better blip than a hole in the fence.

Nearer 3.30 there was a noise that made me look out. Nothing to see. Then a car drove down the road, reversed and turned back. From upstairs I could see that a tree had fallen across the road. Some on the other side have tree conservation orders on. I didn’t think there was anything I could do to help the people who were already at the scene.

An hour later I heard a chainsaw and work was starting to clear it, at first just enough to let cars pass. I’m guessing that it was someone local rather than highways department.
