Witch hazel

Made a batch of French lentil soup this morning. It made a delicious, warming lunch on yet another cold, grey day. Several portions went in the freezer later in the day.

Mid-afternoon I walked into Holmfirth to do some shopping and collect my repeat prescription on the way to the surgery for a routine blood test, plus the tests requested by the stroke consultant. Had to wait a while for my appointment, and then discovered that the phlebotomist hadn't been issued with some of the required forms. She painstakingly went through my notes, ascertained which forms were required, had them Okayed by a senior nurse, and then took blood (at least an armful!) without causing any bruising. Brilliant! But it took much longer than anticipated, so MrM kindly came into Holmfirth in the van to fetch me.

On the way into Holmfirth I passed this lovely red witch hazel in someone's garden, and couldn't resist stopping for a couple of photos.
