Requiem - Tate Britain

I have had a day in London visiting Tate Britain - an enchanting gallery with many famous paintings and some of the more unusual art and sculptures. I needed to catch a couple of specific exhibitions before it is too late - 'Photographing 80s Britain' and the 'Turner Prize'.    I had forgotten what a time of rioting and disturbance it was in the 80s - racial hatred, miners' strikes, Margaret Thatcher's Poll tax.... all recorded by many photographers. The Turner Prize is always a strange event (to most of our eyes) but, nevertheless, interesting at what others see and create. I always love visiting the actual Turner gallery - his work is just amazing!
The stairwell full of a tribute to all those who died in the Grenfell Tower disaster is also incredible. I wasn't keen on it when it first appeared a few years ago but it's growing on me.  Today I used a wide angle lens and then some closer shots of specific sections - might do a collage at some point.
A great day - walked miles - and thoroughly enjoyable. Also good train journeys passed with a great book I'm reading - 'Pompeii' by Robert Harris.
Glass of wine now and more of my book!
