Between fen and mountains

Lemon tree

I only spotted that my neighbour has a lemon tree yesterday. I always think orange and lemon trees are quite exotic as they do not grow in the UK. We had our tennis match in the departmental competition today. It was a heavy individual and team defeat. I was a little distracted as I received a call from my son-in-law which I could not answer on my French mobile at the beginning of the match. My French mobile will not make international calls. As I knew he was at work and he never calls me on that phone, I thought it must be something serious. I hurried home between matches only to find that it was a mistake. It did not really matter as I think I would have lost anyway. Every match I have played this year has been against stronger opposition. Anyway, after the team defeat, we settled down for an excellent spread. I cooked all the Catalan sausages which we ate with Greek and potato salads, rillettes, and couscous. After the cheese course, we had Bernard’s famous coconut and caramel flan and a candied brioche couronne followed by coffee. Our club has a good reputation for hospitality, which we have to maintain!
