My mum’s snowdrops

You can tell by the messy surroundings that I’ve tried to use the fallen leaves from the Acer and the witch hazel as a kind of mulch. Not sure if it’s working, providing new habitats etc. we will see.

We had lots of splendid snowdrops in our family home. When I moved away, I scrounged a few but they didn’t survive. I tried several times and I still couldn’t get them to settle.

When I moved about seventeen years ago, from North Birmingham back to Staffordshire, I had been clearing the rather overgrown patch at the back of the garden when I came across a couple of clumps that had defied logic, and settled. With hope but no confidence, I moved them to my new home…….and I think I’ve blipped them most years.

They’ve battled their way through, and are looking quite promising.

Yes,  Mum, they seem to be going strong……

Winds and storm tomorrow. Stay safe, my blipfriends……
