Useless?

1957: Toy company Wham-O produces the first Frisbees
Quote Of The Day
"Generally, successful fads have some kind of play value, like the Frisbee, Slinky, Silly Putty, my Wallwalker. They're generally inexpensive items, impulse items. They tend to be rather useless items, too. They provide a few minutes of amusement."
(Ken Hakuta)
I suppose in many ways a paperback fiction book meets most of Hakuta's criteria for a fad. I wouldn't recommend throwing a paperback fiction book, however; it's trajectory is extremely erratic and being hit by the spine could be quite painful.
The stories in this anthology are mostly superb, but I definitely prefer Gaiman's more whimsical stories, magical-realism with the emphasis on the magical. Don't venture too far into the darkness, Neil.
Thank you to V for indulging her old man's habit by taking this photo for me as soon as I came home from work, still suitably attired for reading a Neil Gaiman book.
