The Soft World of Snow

Yesterday evening it snowed a fair bit and this morning 15 cms of new snow had taken the edge off all the contours and reduced the colour scale to a subtle setting. In this picture, taken from upstairs in the house, a soft afternoon sun, already behind the forest, illuminated the edge of the untrodden path to the cellar with a gentle band of light.
It was Film Studio today, the first film of the season was "Lee", about the photographer Lee Miller and her wartime work. As usual when we get home from Film Studio there has been extensive use of Internet, mostly Wikipedia, learning more about the film, and in this case the people portrayed.
It was wonderful to see a film in which photography, and Miller's photographs, played such a prominent part.
