Old Spice
A friend of mine, who is the daughter of a friend that I had in Malta 1972-74, has started a Facebook page called 'Postcard from Marsaskala', which is where I had a flat while I was serving at RAF Luqa. It's an interesting FB page, and Malta itself is just an incredible place to visit, particularly if you like ancient history and a plethora of locations where movies were filmed.
She posted a video of rough seas coming into the bay and added the music from the Old Spice advertisements, many, many, years ago!
The music was O'Fortuna, from Carl Orff's Carmena Birana, which incidentally I attended a performance of in the Istanbul Opera House, Taksim Square, Istanbul around the year 2000 when I started regular business trips to Turkey, Greece and Cyprus.
Our daughter, Johanna, bought me Old Spice for Christmas and while it is a very nice aftershave I realised it was quite different to the original. So, I ordered a small bottle of the original to compare it. As soon as I slapped it around my neck I could smell that smell that took me back to the 1960's. I think every man used Old Spice in those days, before the more modern smelly aftershaves came along!
I'm sure many people, including women, would remember the smell of Old Spice from our younger days.
P.S. the different colour of the bottles is not accurate, it's just different lighting as I took the photographs at different times.
