Wet day

It didn't actually rain much, but there wasn't a glimpse of sunshine all day. I made a very large  pot of slowly simmered bolognese sauce and had some of it for lunch -- most of the rest went into the freezer in two-person portions.

Lighting the fire I found we had virtually no paper (we're always running out now that we don't buy paper newspapers), a little cardboard, and no pine cones, so after lunch I went for a walk to find some more. I didn't find many and of course they were wet, but hopefully they'll dry out overnight.

And with that, it's a quiet evening in!

PS if you're wondering how to survive the state of the world, here's some sound advice which I need to follow. Resolution: spend more time on Blipfoto and reading actual books, and less on reading news!
