The Girl Showed Up...

Finally!  Male Red-bellied woodpeckers regularly show up at our BarkButter feeders. But for some little understood reason, females seldom visit, except when it's time to teach their young about the joys of the feeders. This morning when I saw this hungry bird, I thought it was 'just' another boy but then I took a closer look. Her incomplete red cap identifies her as female. My camera and I were in the right place at the right time. She dined then flew off. I haven't seen her since. m
