Slashing

Cutting down any matter is called slashing.
Here Shadreck, in the middle is seen using what they call a slasher, a pretty lethat looking weapon, but very often blunt.
They are working in the orchard cutting down sunn hemp after the seed has been harvested. We use it to fix nitrogen, improve the soil and save seeds.
The cut material will be used here as mulch as part of our conservation farming approach.
It will protect the soil, prevent much of the water loss, prevent soil erosion and also protect tmany micro-organisms, from the sun, working close to the surface.
