An ordinary life....

Celebrating a birthday and a birth…

So, another trip round the sun for me. Fifty-eight today and don’t feel a day over 85! :-))

Lovely morning spent opening cards and gifts before preparing for the arrival of our nephew Andrew, wife Nikki and their precious little bundle, our nine day old Great Niece Orla.

Since I wanted to photograph her in natural light, decided the garden room was the best option. Slight concern that it’s south facing and sunshine was forecast, but given the time of year and the fact the sun behaved, I felt the light was soft enough.

I hadn’t planned on Orla being awake and had visualised her in a milk coma making her easy to pose, but the little madam had different ideas! Bright as a button and the most alert I’ve seen her, she defied any attempt to get her to be a passive model.

Nikki wanted shots of Orla’s hands and feet, bit of a challenge when she’s constantly waving her fists at me and kicking her tiny legs. Also my camera was playing up again (must get it looked at) so resorted to using the smaller Canon, which has dated the photos March 2024!

By the time she did fall asleep the light was gone so the sleepy, cocoon shots are a bit grainy. But mum and dad are happy with the ones they’ve seen so far and that’s what matters. Still loads to edit!

Andrew, Nikki and Orla left to get home in time for Esme. She was off school today with a UTI (she has my sympathy!) so spent the day with her gran and grandpa. Another photo shoot planned in three months that will feature Esme and Orla. That will be fun :-))

More of the little lady in extras.
