Orange goo

I think that’s a scientific term for this slimy substance on a stick that I noticed on my run today (and I’m sure it was on the same stick at this time last year). Apparently it’s a fungus or a complex of fungi and yeast that colonise the sap that leaks from a wound in the tree. Yucky or fascinating, maybe both.
