A Word in your Ear

I had another cancellation at work so arranged to go to Saffron Walden with mum and dad. We were in the cheese aisle of Waitrose when my MIL rang in a panic and asked if something had happened to Alfie. I had no idea what she meant but started to freak out slightly and asked what she meant. She said that Aunty Kathleen had rung her and said that something had happened to Alfie. I was in full panic mode now, rang Alfie who was safely in his bed . Margaret meanwhile rings me again and says that Kathleen had made a mistake. Turns out she was talking about her friends dog, Alfie. Phew! Even though none of it made any sense, it gave mum and me a horrible scare til we knew that Alf was in one piece. D was in Doncaster all day in meetings which didn’t help!
I relayed this story to Pops over FaceTime who thought it was highly amusing.
