New life in New Farm

The New Farm Powerhouse in Brisbane was built in 1927-28 to provide electric power for the city's trams. It was decommissioned in 1971 when the last trams were replaced by buses. In 2000 it was redeveloped as  a performing arts and cultural centre. Our Tuesday Walking Group strolled past this morning, before moving on to coffee amongst the Bottle Trees (Brachychiton rupestris) in New Farm Park nearby (extra).
