Happy Birthday, Jerry
This is my 365th blip, coinciding with the 71st birthday of Jerry Garcia. We went to a showing tonight of a documentary of the first Dead show we went to, an all time classic at Veneta, 8/27/72. What a show it was for us, 18 and 19 years old then. 104 degrees on that day, plenty of naked bodies dancing in the hot sun; kids and dogs, long hair, good good music. It was a magical time and we were right there. The Dead played this concert as a fundraiser for Springfield Creamery, makers of Nancy's Yogurt, and when the concert did not raise enough money for the creamery, the band wrote them a check for the rest. I don't remember everything about this day
( ;) but I remember much. We left a little early and went swimming in nearby Fern Lake Reservoir. It was blazing hot. We could not see ourselves up close in the movie, but we were there. We were the dancing hippies in the back (then in the front). Man, was that a good time!
