Milling, 1st January 1892

Looking through archives today came across this facsimile of the corn trade news of January 1892 reprinted to mark the centenary of the publication in 1992.

Now another 33 years on and renamed The Milling and Grain Magazine the publication continues to keep this generation of millers informed.

In 1892 concerns were strangely familiar, profit margins, milling technology and grain quality and nutrition were the topics of the day.

The 1892 magazine featured a young Mr Joseph Rank who was the 3rd generation of a Hull milling family and went on to develop the business to become one of Britain’s largest flour milling and bakery companies. His son Joseph Arthur Rank founded The Rank Organisation.
