Path clearing
Another Cairn conservation morning. There were just three of us today - or rather, two and a half, because Ley had to leave after an hour - but I think we did rather well between us, clearing paths and steps. It was harder work than it may look - there was a thick layer of soil that had built up on these steps, under a big layer of leaves - I started by raking, and then shovelling the earth off with a spade, and eventually found the stone steps underneath. I don't think the many earthworms (and half worms, oops) I came across will have been particularly happy with my efforts - but we got a lot of nice greetings from passers-by :)
Had lunch when I got back, and a shower, while Tim worked on our flappy fence again with Lee from next door. They did a good job, and have shored it up a bit more permanently this time. In the afternoon, I relaxed with a bit of zombie slaying on the Xbox, and then Tim and I went out to reposition my trail camera in the back garden, and ended up doing quite a bit of clearing and weeding. I called out hello to our neighbours on the other side, who were out in their garden - and Liz very kindly offered us some of the snowdrops that she had bought recently, and wouldn't accept any money for them. Everybody needs good neighbours!
