Geese among the haystacks
Went for a cycle to Cannich from Kiltarlity today with C+H and saw these geese in a field. They often fly over the house in V-formation in the morning and the evening at this time of year, honkning away as they fly to/from feeding grounds and roosting grounds. If you look carefully there are actually two different species of geese in the photo --- some have bright orange beaks, they are greylag geese, while others have much darker beaks, they are pink-footed geese (though it looks to me as though both types have pink feet!).
The former breed in Scotland, while the latter leave in the summer to breed in either Iceland or Spitzbergen.
