I just noticed the S is missing
Yesterday we moved the pictures from the last venue to this venue. Today we hung the pictures.
The snow waited until we were nearly through, which was terrific, because I would never have gotten all the help I got a different day. There were five of us doing this. It looks pretty awesome.
In loading this picture I realized that the S at the end of Becoming Ourselves has fallen off. I have more so I will replace it before the showing.
This evening my neighbors fed me comfort food and we talked about Sam and Karen and travel.
Hopefully tomorrow there will be a ceasefire and the release of 33 living hostages. Hamas will still be holding 57 hostages believed to be alive. The release will include two little kids, one 2 and one 5. The two year old, Kfir Bibas, has spent both of his birthdays as a hostage.
Samantha Power, the head of USAID until noon tomorrow, gave an interview which also covered assistance to Ukraine.
“Ukraine's agricultural exports are basically back to their pre-Feb. 20, 2022, invasion numbers. That's extraordinary given that [Vladimir] Putin still controls a number of the Black Sea ports. Given that he shut down the Black Sea Grain Initiative with the goal of strangling the economy, given that his forces have taken over a lot of prime agricultural real estate. But that's USAID coming in and investing in granaries and new farm equipment and low interest loans and providing seeds.
For every dollar of taxpayer resources that we have spent, we have brought in $6 in private sector investment.…That has brought down global food prices. That has an effect here, in terms of inflation. But it certainly has an effect in sub-Saharan Africa where those spiraling food prices in the wake of the invasion were absolutely devastating to people living on the margins… Ukraine's economy grew by 5 percent in 2023, I think 3.9 percent last year. The tech sector has grown by 7 percent during this horrific conflict. So even though Putin is launching unprecedented attacks on energy infrastructure, you will see by and large, the electricity, the heating, the ability to get through winter is being maintained.”
