An ordinary life....

If at first you don't succeed...

We had a fairly leisurely start to the day.  Bacon and sausage sandwiches with tea / coffee, then Ele and I went through Andrew and Nikki's wedding photos, which she'd managed to download and send to me.  Great memories of a lovely day.  Can now print off the photos I want to frame.

Had a lazy afternoon.  D took Lola for a walk on Gleneagles moor while Ele, Kenny and I sat with feet up, chatting about their house renovations plans for this year.  Refurb of their ensuite definitely going ahead, and talk of removing the wall dividing their kitchen and dining room to create a more open plan space.  It would certainly transform the back of the house but like all these ideas, involves much more work and costs when the detail is looked at.

D and Lola arrived back, coffee then Ele and Kenny headed home.

When we were at Andrew and Nikki's on Thursday Nikki asked if I would crochet wild animal bunting for Orla's nursery.  Think it might be a bit above my skill level but happy to give it a go.  Found some YouTube tutorials this afternoon and looked out my pile of cotton yarn.  Despite having a ball of just about every colour, I need to order black for the eyes of the animals and stripes of the tiger, grey for the elephant and brown for the monkey.

Made a start on the tiger and the giraffe but can only go so far till the additional yarn arrives.  Both tutorials for these said they were suitable for beginners and for the most part they are, the only problem is there are chunks of information missing that needs some experience of crochet in order to make sense of the whole pattern.  A real bug bear of mine as a beginner ends up thinking they must be stupid because they can't get the pattern to work, and can easily give up.

Dinner was left over salmon from last night (I always prefer it cold the next day) with salad and homemade potato wedges.

Now about to spend a happy hour on the Wool Warehouse website ordering the additional yarn for the nursery bunting AND yarn for a baby blanket for friends' baby due in April.  Unusually (these days) they don't want to know the sex of the baby so this will be a multi-coloured blanket.
